For example QVTnet console does the thing and tells you about weird packages like PING.

You could try Trumpet Winsock if you intend to use TCP/IP over a serial
line, or if your using Windows for Workgroups 3.11, try the freely
available TCP/IP stack from Microsoft.
The latter can be obtained from ftp.microsoft.com, the former can
probably be obtained from a wuarchive.wustl.edu (I got it from
ftp.demon.co.uk in the /pub/ibmpc/winsock area, but that may fairly
slow for you if your in the US).

Subject: Re: Need a Windows PPP (not slip) connector for Winsock
I've heard good things about the
>software in the book though, andit is cheap enough to take a chance.
The Netmanage product in the book works fine. I have been using it for a
month or so now running over a PPP connection into a Xyplex terminal server.
The script was a little tricky but once I identified the message sources (my
modem and the Xyplex) during the connect sequence, no real problem. You must
specify an ethernet address and host name even for the PPP dialup connection
but this is all ignored under the PPP protocol so you can put anything in to
get started. I have used the book product to run a lot of shareware including
Trumpet, Mosaic, Winlpr, Eudora (commercial version), WFTP, Hgopher, BCGopher,
Bookgopher, etc. without any problems. The book is The Windows Internet Tour
Guide by Michael Fraase, (mfraase@farces.com) Ventana Press, ISBN

Subject: WinSOck Vs MS TCP/IP
I installed Trumpet Winsock last week and really like it. I use slip
to work remotely from a Unix machine in our lab.
I have Windows for WorkGroups. Is the MS slip any better?
Thanks,
Steve

Subject: Winsock and Multimedia PC
Hello, I am trying to use the Trumpet Winsock on a new IBM
MultiMedia PC (Soundblaster card and CD-ROM drive).
When I try to run my WIN3270 emulator I get the error message
"Unable to resolve Host name" If I look in the Winsock screen
I see the error message "WSAENOTSOCK [65535] and in my 3270
emulator, the message "Socket send error 10038"
During these failures, I am able to connect to IPX resources
on the network (I load ODIPKT at startup).
My first line of troubleshooting was to remove the Soundblaster
board - when I did this all worked fine. Then I verified that
were no Interrupt, DMA, IO/Base, etc. conflicts between my 3COM
3C509 ethernet adapter board and the Soundblaster.
I'm left wondering what else to try, I commented out all references
to the Soundblaster board in Windows' System.INI file.
-Anything else I can check??
thanks, Greg_Kaisen@QM.YALE.EDU

Is there any that can skip a particular thread within a group? Am using
Trumpet. It can skip an entire group but not a thread. Something like 'k' in
nn. How about port of nn to Windows!
